Yoav Soffer has been with the Bank of Israel for 22 years, serving in various Positions . In 2020 he was appointed an Advisor to the Deputy Governor and the CBDC Project Manager, and coordinates the Bank of Israel's work on the digital shekel. Yoav has a B.A in Economics and Geography and an M.A in Economics from Ben Gurion University in Israel. He has taught in several academic institutions in Israel.

As part of the Bank of Israel's Digital Shekel Project, a thourouh and comprehensive cost benefit analysis was executed. This presentation will provide a case study on how to value the overall costs to the economy, and assess them against the benefits to society that a multipurpose CBDC could bring, as an essential tool for any jurisdiction to decide on launching a CBDC.
